About The Position

About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer to take ownership and lead the design and migration of our on-premises Teradata and Hadoop analytical platforms to Google Cloud Platform. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud concepts, GCP core services, Kubernetes, Datawarehouse, Big data, data lake and data engineering to architect and develop scalable and resilient products and frameworks to migrate petabytes of data to GCP. In this role, you will: Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of experience in IaC (example Terraform) and developing CI/CD pipelines.
  • 7+ years of Software and Infrastructure Engineering or combination of both
  • 5+ years of experience in big data engineering or cloud migration projects for data platforms.
  • 3+ years of experience leading data platform transformation (preferably GCP) or building data applications
  • 3+ years of experience of data architecture, ETL/ELT processes, and cloud infrastructure design
  • 3+ years' experience working in agile teams and following SDLC routines for code management and deployment
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment while balancing multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GCP best practices for implementation data warehouse blueprint, including IAM roles, services accounts, and secrets management.
  • Hands-on expertise with GCP services such as Big Query, Dataproc, DataPlex Catalog, Cloud storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud composer, GKE containerization, Python programming
  • Experience with data engineering with Teradata or Hadoop.
  • Cloud certification.
