The Opportunity This position works out of our Tech Center in Little Canada/St. Paul, MN in the EP division. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives. As the Principal Electrical Engineer , at our Little Canada/St. Paul, MN location, you will be responsible for designing electromechanical medical devices in Abbott’s fast growing and highly visible Electrophysiology medical device division. This includes initiating the planning, organizing, performing, coordinating, documentation and/or directing of design testing internally and with external contract houses as necessary. Additionally, determining the layout, construction, and evaluation of a variety of prototype printed circuit assemblies, fixtures, and tools. You will apply advanced engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical challenges within this division and perform technical studies in support of project goals. You will be a subject matter expert (SME) on all medical device standards updates, identifying and using the most effective, cost efficient, and best practices to execute processes, and continually evaluate their effectiveness and appropriateness
