Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtech Purpose: As the Principal Engineer, you will play a key role in leading and managing large equipment technology projects at Johnson & Johnson Vision. Your expertise and leadership will be essential in all stages of the project lifecycle, from planning and implementation to monitoring and completion. You will work closely with diverse teams to create innovative equipment automation solutions that will have a significant impact on eye health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in engineering roles
  • Proficiency delivering automation solutions, with a minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Experience specifying, debugging, commissioning, and qualifying systems with advanced automation, with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Proficient in statistical analysis to ensure data-driven decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects with minimal guidance and supervision
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience presenting business cases and project status
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% both domestically and internationally

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience working in Medical Devices, Pharmaceutical, or other regulated industries is preferred
  • Some experience in machine learning is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Manage Equipment Automation Capital Projects from Business Case Proposal and conception through closure
  • Manage project earned value and work completed
  • Evaluate and negotiate contract terms with equipment suppliers
  • Propose, assess, plan, implement, monitor, and close large equipment technology projects across Johnson & Johnson Vision
  • Perform design tasks, including development of requirements, system specifications, qualifications protocol generation, protocol execution, technical instructions, training, and protocol/test execution reports
  • Participate in the review, negotiation, and vigilance of support service contracts and vendor commitments
  • Generate and complete validation/qualification test plans to ensure sound performance of equipment
  • Collaborate with internal teams and assist in the technical development of peers and partners
  • Tackle equipment application challenges and provide innovative solutions
  • Take an active role in the areas of equipment safety, OEE, equipment technical evolution, and equipment reliability
  • Lead equipment commissioning testing activities to ensure successful implementation
