About The Position

As the Head of DRaaS Operations & Engineering, you will be the primary custodian and visionary for Ekco’s Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) offering. This is a high-impact leadership role designed for an individual who can bridge the gap between complex technical architecture and strategic service excellence. Your mission is to take our existing BDR capabilities and evolve them into a best-in-class, globally recognized service. You will own the service lifecycle from maturing the technical roadmap and automation strategies to leading high-stakes failover executions and technical pre-sales for our largest global clients.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in IT Backup and Disaster Recovery, preferably within an MSP or mission-critical enterprise environment.
  • Technical Depth: Expert-level knowledge of Zerto, Veeam, Asigra, and Cloud-native recovery (Azure/AWS).
  • Leadership: Proven track record of owning a technical service or product and driving it to a higher level of maturity.
  • Communication: The ability to translate "bits and bytes" into "business risk and resilience" for C-suite stakeholders.
  • Mindset: A process-oriented, "calm-under-pressure" approach to solving complex technical failures.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications: CBCI/MBCI (Business Continuity Institute), PRINCE2, PMP, or ITIL Foundation.
  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Cybersecurity: Familiarity with modern ransomware recovery techniques and automated "clean-room" recovery scripting.

Responsibilities

  • Service Maturation: Move the DRaaS offering from reactive support to a proactive, automated, and orchestrated service model.
  • Technical Roadmap: Identify and integrate emerging technologies (AI-driven recovery, automated testing) to ensure Ekco remains the market leader.
  • Brand Authority: Act as the "Face of DRaaS" for Ekco, participating in RFPs and high-level service reviews to instill absolute confidence in our customers.
  • Operational Excellence: Standardize global playbooks, ensuring that a recovery in the UK is as seamless and identical as one in the Netherlands or Ireland.
  • Define and document detailed solution designs for diverse customer environments, ensuring high availability and data security.
  • Mastery of platform technologies including Zerto, Veeam, Cove, and Azure Site Recovery.
  • Optimize data replication, redundancy techniques, deduplication, and compression to maximize performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Design and maintain a robust, repeatable DR testing framework.
  • Lead technical failover tests, tabletop exercises, and full-scale simulations.
  • Validate and guarantee Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) for all tiered services.
  • Conduct Business Impact Assessments (BIA) to identify critical services and IT dependencies.
  • Ensure all recovery testing and documentation align with relevant regulatory and industry standards (ISO 27001, SOC2, etc.).
  • Maintain a central DR register and produce executive-level reporting for audit committees.
  • Lead the technical response during real-world disaster events, acting as the "Incident Commander" for recovery operations.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of "Recovery First" thinking.
  • Manage end-to-end delivery of complex DR/BC projects, defining scope, milestones, and resource requirements.
