About The Position

Our fast-growing Data Center business unit is seeking a Principal Engineer specializing in mechanical product design and development. In this exciting role, you will focus on the design of fiber optic connectors and components. You will participate in a broad range of new product development activities including product design, prototyping, and validation testing. This position requires you to work in our Shakopee, MN, facility, Monday through Friday How You'll Help Us Connect the World Collaborate with product managers to develop specifications tailored to product requirements Develop sophisticated solutions for data center interconnect products Read, interpret and apply relevant industry standards and test methodologies Coordinate validation testing of fiber optic connector components to assure performance in challenging environments Provide expert advice and consultation to other product design engineers, process engineers, and application engineers Work closely with the manufacturing and procurement organizations to ensure robust supply chains This position is not eligible for employment-based immigration sponsorship, and applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering, Optics, Physics, or related discipline
  • Ten or more years of experience designing high precision components
  • Experience with scale-up in high volume manufacturing facilities
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into product specifications

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or PhD degree
  • Experience in fiber optic connector design or termination
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Experience leading all aspects of optical, mechanical, and environmental testing of connectors to meet industry and product requirements.
  • Industry contacts and knowledge of data center technology

Responsibilities
