About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Principal Data Scientist to lead the development of multimodal AI (MMAI) solutions that integrate genomic, transcriptomic, imaging, and clinical data for oncology applications. This role drives cutting-edge predictive modeling to inform patient care, advance research, and support strategic decision-making. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including data science, bioinformatics, engineering, and clinical experts to design, implement, and validate AI models that have a direct impact on patient outcomes. The ideal candidate combines technical excellence, scientific rigor, and leadership, thriving in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. You will oversee complex research initiatives, mentor teams, and ensure models are interpretable, clinically applicable, and aligned with long-term product and business goals.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, biostatistics, computer science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in an industry setting (biotech, diagnostics, or healthcare preferred).
  • Proven expertise in multimodal data integration, machine learning, and model development for clinical applications.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, and SQL; experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of genomics, transcriptomics, digital pathology, and clinical data analysis.
  • Demonstrated track record of technical leadership, project ownership, and successful delivery of high-impact R&D projects.
  • Strong publication record and ability to communicate complex concepts to interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research and development of multimodal AI models for oncology, integrating genomics, transcriptomics, imaging, and clinical data.
  • Design and implement robust pipelines for data ingestion, harmonization, and integration across diverse modalities.
  • Drive proof-of-concept and feasibility studies from concept through model development, benchmarking, interpretation, and dissemination.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including bioinformatics, engineering, medical, and clinical affairs—to ensure models are biologically interpretable and clinically relevant.
  • Translate complex analytical insights into actionable recommendations for research and product strategy.
  • Prepare and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences through reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and guide interdisciplinary projects to successful outcomes.
