Our team is searching for a Principal Data Engineer to mentor a team of data engineers who are responsible for analysis, architecture, design and development of data warehouse and business analytics solutions. Principal Data Engineers are trusted advisors on the planning and roadmap for the Data Engineering team and owns the quality for the data pipelines our team builds. Requirements

  • 7-10 years Related experience
  • 5+ years developing cloud solutions using data services.
  • Minimum 3+ years of leading data engineering teams.
  • Experience crafting and building self-service analytics and big data solutions using cloud technologies (e.g., EMR, Aurora, Redshift, Glue, S3, SWF, Quicksight etc.).
  • Leading/mentoring senior engineers and/or managers.
  • Experience with the Software development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum methods.
  • Proven ability to manage global projects or programs including work prioritization, planning, and coordination
  • Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to optimally connect with both business and technical teams.
  • Ability to work multi-functionally, building and maintaining trust with internal customers.
  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related subject area or equivalent experience (Required)
  • Cloud platform certification(s) (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, OR Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) (Required)
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Master's/Advanced Degree Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Statistics, or related technical field and/or MBA (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis, architecture, design, and development of data warehouse, data lake, and business intelligence solutions
  • Collaborate on analysis, architecture, design, and development of data warehouse and business analytics solutions
  • Research, analyze, recommend, and select technical approaches for solving difficult migration, development, and integration problems
  • Lead as well as contribute (hands-on) to data implementation projects and/or project independent workstreams
  • Data wrangling of heterogeneous data, exploration and discovery in pursuit of new business insights
  • Conduct and support white-boarding sessions, workshops, design sessions, and project meetings as needed, playing a key role in building relationships with other teams
  • Mentor other team members in their efforts to build data architect skillsets
  • Assist team management to define projects, including helping estimate, plan, and scope work
  • Contribute to presentations required by management and meeting preparations
  • Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed.
