Principal Data and Agentic Engineer

The Walt Disney CompanyBurbank, CA

About The Position

The Disney Decision Science and Integration (DDSI) team leverages advanced technologies, Gen AI, data analytics, and scientific approaches such as optimization, and statistical modeling to build innovative tools that shape business decisions across The Walt Disney Company. We support Disney Entertainment (ABC, The Walt Disney Studios, Disney+, Hulu), ESPN, Disney Experiences (Theme Parks, Cruise Line, Consumer Products, DVC), and Corporate Finance with strategic applications that enable data-driven decision-making. What You Will Do You will be responsible for planning and leading research, development, and delivery related to advanced analytic data solutions, leveraging GenAI. You will design, build, and operate intelligent agent systems that power largescale, data intensive applications. This role focuses on architecting agentic workflows, integrating large language models (LLMs) with enterprise data platforms, and delivering production grade systems that reason, plan, and act across complex data environments. This includes working with business and technology leaders to understand scope and requirements, business needs, and data from across the Disney company. Other activities include planning, estimating, design, development, testing, production rollout, and sustainment activities. You will also need to consult and collaborate with project team members, lead design reviews, do hands-on development, and communicate with colleagues and leaders.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in technology roles, preferably in data engineering, software engineering, and/or architecture
  • Demonstrated experience working with a broad range of GenAI models, tools, and foundational concepts
  • Experience architecting multi‑agent systems with orchestrator-driven delegation and agent-to-agent handoffs
  • Experience designing and building automated evaluation/scoring to reduce hallucinations and improve reliability at scale
  • Experience designing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, including chunking strategies, vector databases and embedded model selection
  • Experience leveraging Knowledge Graphs and structured ontologies as semantic memory layers
  • Experience partnering with stakeholders to help define project scope based on technical capabilities and translate requirements into technical engineering tasks
  • Experience defining solutions to sophisticated data engineering problems in support of advanced analytic processes
  • Experience leading and deploying code using a source control product such as GitLab/GitHub and CI/CD pipelines. Also, deployment using containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs, function-calling interfaces, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to equip agents with access to enterprise data, services, and real-time context
  • Experience with defining and estimating level-of-effort for engineering activities
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and solutions to non-technical team members
  • Demonstrated expertise using SQL and Python
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multi-team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Proven ability to define GenAI system architecture strategy, including multi-model evaluation frameworks, LLMOps and CI/CD pipeline design, and deployment patterns for scalable, observable, and cost-efficient production systems
  • Knowledgeable with media, entertainment, or related business domains
