About The Position

Netflix is seeking an experienced Principal Counsel for Legal Affairs in Film to manage a variety of responsibilities related to the development and production of feature films. This role involves negotiating and drafting essential agreements for the company's live-action feature film slate, contributing significantly to the creation of high-profile films.

Requirements

• At least 10+ years of experience in development, production, and acquisition of feature motion pictures.
• Deep familiarity with rights, talent agreements, licensing, and production services agreements.
• Prior in-house experience, preferably with a major film studio.
• Strong analytical capabilities and judgment in ambiguous situations.
• Excellent communication skills, both clear and concise.
• Ability to work independently and reliably under tight deadlines.
• Strong sense of urgency and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• J.D. and membership in good standing in at least one state bar.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in film acquisition is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and draft agreements necessary for the development, production, and acquisition of feature films.
• Collaborate with the film team to ensure legal compliance and support throughout the film production process.
• Review and analyze rights, talent agreements, licensing, and acquisition agreements.
• Conduct chain of title reviews and manage related legal issues.
• Provide legal advice and support on various film-related matters.
