About The Position

Mitsubishi Power is hiring a Principal Component Engineer in the Savannah, GA location. The Principal Component Engineer is a senior technical leader within the Engineering Team, responsible for driving innovation, standardization, and technical excellence across component engineering disciplines. This role does not include direct people management but plays a critical role in mentoring, coaching, and guiding engineers to elevate technical capabilities and ensure alignment with strategic business goals.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required); advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 15+ years of relevant engineering experience, with demonstrated expertise in component design and development within the power generation or related industries.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of engineering principles, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mechanical design. Familiarity with industry codes and standards is essential.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Windchill and engineering design tools preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Languages: English required; Japanese, Spanish, or Portuguese are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Innovation: Act as the subject matter expert in component engineering, driving innovative solutions, leading R&D efforts, and staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Strategic & Program Management: Shape the technical roadmap, manage engineering programs, and ensure alignment with business objectives and timely delivery.
  • Cost Optimization & Standardization: Lead initiatives to reduce costs, support new product development, and promote standardization to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Mentorship & Team Development: Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with senior leaders, cross-disciplinary teams, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and knowledge integration.
  • Quality & Risk Management: Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality and regulatory standards, while proactively identifying and mitigating technical risks.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Provide expert consultation, support business development, and contribute to proposal strategies.
  • Design Review Participation: Serve as a key contributor in design review boards, offering technical assessments and risk evaluations.
