We are seeking a Principal Communications Generalist who is a fast-moving dot connector that thrives on change and executes with an unrelenting focus on quality. Supporting communications for an Executive Vice President, you will be responsible for managing the creation, development, and execution of effective internal and external communication strategies. In this dynamic role, your communications work will include executive thought leadership, employee and leader engagement, organizational change, culture and more. This role is also responsible for ensuring consistency of messaging across activations, as well as enabling a measurable and data-driven strategy that drives our approach. This role will collaborate with multiple teams in global geographies and functions.

  • Handle creating and implementing multiple forms of internal strategic communication activities, programs, and content guided by the Medtronic Mission and aligned to business objectives.
  • Lead strategies and produce content to help align the organization's goals in support of greater employee engagement and business impact.
  • Generate comprehensive communications plans that engage employees with the objectives, policies, Mission, and growth strategies of the company.
  • Responsible for planning, storytelling, writing, and editing to persuade, educate, and inspire internal audiences to change behavior or understand the work environment.
  • Support senior leadership in communicating key business updates, change initiatives, policy changes, and other company information to employees and leaders.
  • Develop and execute communication programs in collaboration with /Social Media, Corporate Communications, Global Marketing, and Human Resources functions, as appropriate.
  • Liaise with the global business units, U.S. commercial team and global regions on communications efforts, including internal and external announcements.
  • Identify and develop a steady cadence of content to engage external stakeholders with the latest news, including clinical data, product milestones, and events.
  • Develop and execute integrated plans in partnership with communications colleagues across Medtronic and global regions to support programs, including select product launches, healthcare congresses, and other critical events and special projects.
  • Execute the writing, editing, and approval of event scripts, video messages, press releases, interviews, FAQs, and other external and internal communications vehicles as defined.
  • Measure and analyze the effectiveness of communications efforts, govern and improve existing processes, and incorporate new technology and techniques to enhance communications with key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with communications contractors and external agencies to support projects as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant corporate communications experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant corporate communications experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or Journalism.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and creative skills.
  • Strong project and time management skills; ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and content contributors/subject matter experts within a defined timeline.
  • Experience with or skillful application of programs and applications such as PowerPoint, Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, Viva Engage, and LinkedIn.
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and solid business acumen to connect communication strategies to business objectives.
  • Experience working directly with senior leaders and collaborating cross-functionally with leaders and peers in other functions across the globe.
  • Willingness to learn and implement the Medtronic brand voice in communications.
  • Accuracy, accountability, and strong organizational skills are essential to a successful performance.
  • Possess strong change management communications capabilities and an understanding of organizational dynamics and social psychology.
