About The Position

The Principal Cloud Network Engineer plays a pivotal and hands-on role within the Cloud Network team, emphasizing expertise in implementation, administration, support and monitoring for network edge, load balancing, caching and security across our global enterprise cloud. The ideal candidate is comfortable at influencing strategy, highly collaborative, and possesses a profound background in network engineering, implementation, and automation at enterprise scale.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of hands-on experience in Cloud Engineering, with a focus on network engineering and troubleshooting.
  • Expert level proficiency in multiple cloud disciplines, covering technical architecture, network management, application development, observability, core network infrastructure, caching, load balancing, network security, compute, and databases (SQL Server, MongoDB, Postgres and Oracle).
  • Fluency in Azure Cloud Networking with a strong understanding of protocols such as BGP, TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and routing across globally distributed networks.
  • Strong background in cloud network cost analysis to determine problematic/costly traffic patterns.
  • Expert knowledge of load balancing technologies (e.g. F5, AVI).
  • Expert knowledge of network edge security providers (e.g. Akamai, Cloudflare, Imperva).
  • Demonstrable experience implementing and operating multi-regional networks incorporating Azure networking technologies including Azure Virtual WAN, Application Gateway, NAT Gateway, VNet Peering, Azure Firewall Premium, Azure NSG/ ASG, Traffic Manager, Front Door, etc., ideally at a global scale.
  • Expert knowledge in K8S networking – both ingress, egress and inter cluster secure networking.
  • Proficiency in one or more automation languages (e.g. PowerShell, shell scripts, Perl, Python, Ansible, Terraform).
  • Extensive experience with cloud-based security architectures, tools, policy automation, governance, and application monitoring.
  • Experience with observability products including commercial APM tools, ELK stack, Azure monitor, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Experience with networking/implementing event streaming architectures (e.g. Kafka, RedPanda).
  • Strong program and project management experience, demonstrating the ability to identify, prioritize, and successfully execute competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced, high-growth, and rapidly changing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications from AWS, Azure, or GCP are a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall technical direction and strategic leadership for the delivery of highly available and scalable network infrastructure.
  • Support and troubleshoot availability, performance, product, and infrastructure issues in production environments.
  • Collaborate closely with cloud engineering, platform engineering, and product teams to ensure we are scaling ahead of business needs.
  • Implement automated configuration and deployment process improving network functionality, availability, and performance.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code across both public and private clouds using industry best practices.
  • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of network infrastructure using rich telemetry data.
