The Principal Client Accounting Advisor is a senior-level role within the Reinsurance & Client Reporting Department. This position plays a critical role in month-end and quarter-end close activities, with a primary focus on engaging with clients and providing exceptional financial reporting services. The successful candidate will possess a strong technical accounting background, be adept at analyzing financial data, and demonstrate expertise in client communication. This role has oversight over a broad array of financial aspects including general ledger accounting, comprehensive financial reporting, financial analysis, taxation, investment strategies, and controllership practices. In addition, this person will have the opportunity to interact with senior leadership and engage with the company's most important clients, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or a business degree with a focus on accounting or finance.
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in public accounting, ideally with experience at a Big 4 or major regional firm.
  • 4-7 years in a similar role within an industry setting, with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Proven track record of progressively increasing levels of responsibility throughout their professional career.

Nice To Haves

  • Postgraduate education is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, Microsoft Power Platform, Power Query, VBA, Python, or relational databases.
  • Proficiency in other automation or data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key point of contact for client inquiries, facilitating effective communication through video conferencing, telephone, and email.
  • Conduct thorough research and provide prompt, professional responses to client inquiries, maintaining a high level of service.
  • Serve in a key role running tax-related functions.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and actively contribute to project-based initiatives.
  • Play a pivotal role as a subject matter expert, offering invaluable guidance and support to team accountants.
  • Act as a trusted resource, providing comprehensive expertise and mentorship to drive problem-solving efforts.
  • Collaborate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review and analyze general ledger accounts, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of operational data to ensure accuracy and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze existing processes and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
