Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense. The Principal Civil / Structural Design Engineer will contribute to a portfolio of commercial and military programs, as well as capital infrastructure improvement initiatives. This role demands strong proficiency in foundation design, structural steel, and reinforced concrete systems. Typical project execution includes interpreting project requirements, developing conceptual designs, performing detailed engineering analyses, and producing high‑quality product definition deliverables. You will work alongside mechanical and electrical engineers within the Test Systems Engineering Group to design new systems for research and development of jet engines and component testing within Pratt & Whitney’s Development Operations. Projects must be executed with a strong focus on safety, code compliance, budget, schedule, feasibility, and environmental considerations. The Principal Engineer will also collaborate closely with local authorities throughout permitting activities and work directly with contractors to support successful on‑site construction. The ideal candidate is a proactive, customer‑focused self‑starter who brings strong organizational skills and the confidence to communicate technical concepts to audiences. They will play a key leadership role—guiding teams, collaborating with A&E design firms, and providing clear technical direction to construction contractors throughout project execution. Development Operations provides services to support future products for global commercial airlines, industrial partners and military customers.
