About The Position

Toole Design Group in Boston, MA is looking to hire an experienced and talented full-time Principal Civil Engineer. Requirements

  • A Professional Engineering license in MA (other Northeast states a plus).
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, or relevant field.
  • At least 15 years of relevant engineering experience.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 5 years serving in a project manager or design lead role, preferably for MA or other northeast-based clients.
  • A broad knowledge base in civil engineering, with specific experience in roadway design, drainage design, geometric design, 3D modeling and design of accessible public spaces.
  • Proficiency in Computer Automated Design (AutoCAD or MicroStation) and design software (Civil 3D, GEOPAK or InRoads).
  • Experience analyzing and designing stormwater infrastructure, including the use of stormwater design software such as HydroCAD or HydroFlow.
  • Experience developing construction documents and providing construction management services.
  • Experience in preparing transportation and local agency permit documents.
  • General experience leading multidisciplinary teams, coordinating utility and right-of-way impacts, street lighting, traffic signal, and landscape/hardscape layout.
  • Interest in multimodal and active transportation design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure.
  • Manage projects and guide the team through design development, design review, bid package development, permitting, and answering questions during construction.
  • Fulfill production work on projects as needed and/or supervise others doing that production work.
  • Ensure that projects are consistently of the highest quality.
  • Play a key role in implementing the firm’s quality initiatives and in supporting business development and project pursuits.
