About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking a Principal Configuration/Data Management Analyst for its Electronic Combat Solutions (ECS) business area. This role involves directing all program configuration/data management (CDM) activities to ensure compliance with company policies and program requirements. The analyst will be responsible and accountable for all Hardware CM, Software CM, and Data Management matters pertaining to program execution, and will manage CDM team(s) in support of one or more programs. Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4 years related experience with Bachelor's degree
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Functional knowledge of configuration management tools
  • Demonstrated ability to lead CDM teams on major programs and/or multiple smaller programs
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
  • Exhibits sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers

Nice To Haves

  • Six or more years related experience
  • Solid knowledge of Hardware and Software Configuration Management and Data Management fundamentals
  • Familiarity with SAE ANSI/EIA-649C Configuration Management Standards
  • Experience working with government contracts
  • Experience working as a Control Account Manager and with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently with little direction
  • Familiarity with Git, Jira, BitBucket, ClearCase, and ClearQuest

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all program(s), plans, coordinates and directs all CDM functions, including review of technical requirements and the development of the Program CDM Plan(s).
  • Disseminates program CDM requirements to other functional groups, as necessary, to ensure all requirements are fulfilled.
  • Provides supervision and direction to all CDM functions on a program(s).
  • Directs the resolution of all CDM issues relating to program contractual requirements and company policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the publication and acceptance of CDM Command Media and detailed methodologies for performing CDM functions.
  • Devises new techniques and approaches, their application and required parameters, in the solution of a wide variety of complex CDM problems.
  • Generates CDM inputs to program cost proposals, ensuring that all CDM contractual requirements are satisfied and realistically costed and scheduled.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with BAE Systems customers and their representatives.
  • Prepares and presents status reports for CDM activities during customer and company program reviews.
  • Performs all necessary interface and communication with customers, subcontractors, and program team members.
  • Provides input to subcontractor statements of work, ensuring the implementation of a subcontractor CDM system that meets all program CDM requirements.
  • Reviews functional plans and technical data items to ensure all CDM requirements have been addressed and properly integrated within the requirements defined within the Program CDM Plan(s).
  • When acting as Cost Account Manager, ensures overall cost and schedule performance of all program CDM elements and provides timely status reporting to program management.
  • Coordinates the evaluation, approval/disapproval and implementation of configuration changes throughout the life cycle of assigned programs.
  • Ensures adherence to contractual requirements and established CDM processes by providing oversight of all CDM functions.
  • Coordinates, facilitates, and conducts all internal and customer conducted configuration audits for assigned programs to include formal plans and reports.
  • Mentors and knowledge shares with lower level CDM specialists in tool usage and program execution.
  • Demonstrates thorough expertise in CDM processes and/or tool usage.
  • Recommends actions related to hiring, performance evaluations, promotions, transfers, and training for all assigned configuration team members.
  • Responsible for collecting program metrics and contributing to departmental metrics.
  • Responsible for compiling CDM Postmortem data.
  • Maintains current knowledge and advocates for proper CDM process.
  • May serve as departmental representative to process improvement teams.
  • Responsible for work of others.
  • Leads/provide work direction to other CDM program personnel.
  • Receives minimal supervision.
  • Assignments are provided with appreciable latitude for ingenuity and decision making.
  • Exercises considerable judgment in determining objectives and approaches.
  • Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective for desired results.
  • Regular contact with both CDM and other program functional representatives to coordinate work products.
  • Is expected to assume a leadership role in a teamwork environment.
  • Occasional outside contact to include customer and/or subcontractors.
  • Ensures CDM team adherence to established CDM and company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
