Principal Budget Analyst

About The Position

ITnova is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Principal Budget Analyst to support financial planning and analysis activities within the department. This role is responsible for reviewing monthly financial performance, preparing and consolidating annual budgets, tracking overtime usage, and managing project charge codes throughout their lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, advanced Excel skills, and experience working within complex financial systems in a large organizational environment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
5+ years of experience in complex financial analysis and reporting, budget forecasting and data analysis within a large organization
Proficient in PC applications (Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to SharePoint, Lists, etc.)
Intermediate to advanced experience in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros/VBA, etc.)
Demonstrated experience using SAP financial modules, Peoplesoft, Oracle Essbase and Hyperion with SmartView software applications
Ability to reconcile financial data
Ability to work with large datasets
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated experience working independently
High attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and inconsistencies
Must be a team player

Responsibilities

Review and analyze monthly financial performance and prepare variance reports
Prepare and consolidate the annual budget for Capital, Operating, and overhead-funded programs
Track and report on departmental overtime usage
Create, monitor, and close out project charge codes throughout their lifecycle
Communicate with administrative staff and Project Managers during annual budget submissions
Support monthly financial reporting and variance analysis
Reconcile financial data and identify discrepancies
Work with large datasets to ensure accuracy and completeness
