About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, biology, natural resources, marine science, or a closely related field.
  • Seven years of increasingly responsible environmental project management or program development experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations including the Clean Water Act and Endangered Species Act.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, administer, implement, and oversee the daily functions of the department's biological programs.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the biological program.
  • Schedule, assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of contractors, consultants, and staff.
  • Conduct and prepare reports per the Clean Water Act and Endangered Species Act.
  • Develop, administer, and oversee program budgets and monitor expenditures.
  • Manage large-scale Port-wide biological programs or projects and formulate overall program/project goals.
  • Lead and participate in local, regional, and statewide task forces and committees.
  • Develop and oversee consultant or contractor contracts related to assigned areas of specialty.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of program activities and recommend modifications.
  • Conduct field sampling and environmental survey activities associated with various biological programs.
