About The Position

Principal Associate - Operational Risk Challenge and Advisory (ORCA) Risk Advisors at Capital One are highly motivated Risk and process management professionals with excellent analytical, organizational, risk management, project management, and communication skills. These skills allow us to gain insights, and act as a change agent to influence our business partners. A successful Risk Advisor operates from a foundation of knowledge about the Line of Business with whom they are working, including processes, risks and associated controls, and good risk management practices. They are forward thinking, quick to adapt, and technologically adept with a background that includes technical skill sets. Risk Advisors have a broad level of exposure across the lines of business and have the opportunity to work with the business to create and implement solutions to appropriately manage risks across the 1st line. As an Operational Risk Advisor supporting Risk Management, Human Resources and Corporate Strategy, you will be responsible for working with business partners to identify and consult on potential risks to Capital One. In this position, you will play a key role performing risk assessments. You will collaborate closely with associates across all lines of defense, Lines of Businesses, and other risk management teams to perform and support the work related to further maturing risk management practices, specifically focused on technology and cybersecurity processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
• At least 3 years of Risk Management, Audit, Finance, or Accounting experience
• At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients

Nice To Haves

• 4+ years of Risk Management, Audit, Finance, or Accounting experience
• 4+ years of experience in information security or technology risk management
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Ability to set direction, manage expectations, and lead cross-functional teams
• Ability to communicate and influence clearly and to interact effectively at all levels of the organization

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd line effective challenge and advice to Risk Management, Human Resources and Corporate Strategy 1st lines on their execution of various risk assessment processes, including Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA), Process Level Assessments (PLA), Product Risk Assessment (PRA), Launch initiatives and others
• Ensure results of effective challenge activities are properly documented and communicated, and perform detailed data analysis to identify risks, problem areas, and development/completion of remediation plans
• Serve as subject matter expert to the Business Risk Office (BRO) and Independent Risk Management (IRM) functions in the assessment of operational risk
• Collaborate effectively across multiple organizations such as Operational Risk Management, Risk Oversight Programs, Enterprise Risk Management, Business Risk Offices, Internal Audit etc. to achieve objectives
• Build relationships and become a trusted advisor to the first line Business Risk Offices
• Actively participates in team oriented efforts in Operational Risk Challenge and Advisory (ORCA)
• Be proficient in Enterprise Risk Management’s Risk and Control Standards
