About The Position

Capital One is seeking a motivated professional for a Principal Associate position in Card Finance. In this role you will work directly with our Mainstreet Customer Management business partners supporting the strategy of their portfolio in addition to getting to work as a part of a highly collaborative finance team on a variety of whitespace projects. By supporting the largest P&L at Capital One, you'll get to combine high value deep-dive analytics with influential storytelling, often communicating with some of the top leaders at the company. This role will expose the associate to new technologies and will provide the opportunity to further develop technology skills (e.g. SQL, Python, Tableau, etc.) as well as more traditional FP&A competencies. The Principal Financial Analyst role requires strong communication, problem solving, strategic thinking, and influencing skills in order to effectively articulate outcomes of analysis and relevant insights, partner with business leadership to assess the financial implications of strategic growth initiatives, and develop presentations to communicate business and analysis results to senior leadership audiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years' experience in financial analysis
  • At least 3 years' experience with financial modeling
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master's Degree in Finance
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • 4+ years' experience in financial analysis
  • 4+ years' experience with financial modeling
  • 3+ years' experience in strategic analysis & planning
  • Proven business relationship, communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated independent problem solving and strategic thinking abilities
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to positively contribute to overall success of the team

Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate, meaningful, and efficient financial forecasts and management reporting to help our partners deliver on their financial objectives
  • Financial reporting and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial reporting, and P&L management
  • Coordinate and collect input data from Business and Financial Analysts in different departments, check data integrity, summarize and convert data, run models, verify, analyze, and communicate output data
  • Assist in development of presentations to communicate analysis results to senior audiences, clearly articulate outcomes of analysis to leadership teams
  • Manage ad-hoc requests and special projects
  • Independently manage and prioritize workload
