About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Principal Architect to join our Commercial & Institutional - Architectural & Structural Team at our Albany, NY or Syracuse, NY office. Our architects and designers seek to create high-quality, collaborative designs that stress innovation grounded in careful listening to functional needs and tailored to culture and specific organizational needs. At CHA, architects and engineers work together to create solutions that endure in the built environment. The Principal Architect has broad knowledge of fundamentals in specialty areas and knowledge of principles and practices in related specialties. The professional in this role plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of complex projects while ensuring government regulations and zoning codes are adhered to. This key role is responsible for providing technical direction and leadership to the group including assisting with project design and quality control, coordinating with junior staff on all phases of design projects, assisting with developing standard technical practices, and mentoring and training staff. Additionally, the Principal Architect supports marketing and proposal efforts to obtain new work and may travel as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Registered Architect license required.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Minimum of 20 years of Architecture experience.
  • Experience with New York State Education Department and K-12 school design preferred.
  • Mastery of all necessary software programs.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and graphic communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of architectural design is required.
  • Ability to work and lead in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to conduct QA/QC reviews.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and multitasking skills.
  • Must possess technical acumen and the ability to troubleshoot on a variety of projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with New York State Education Department and K-12 school design preferred.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $115,000 - $140,000 based on qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation.
