About The Position

As a Principal Architect with Genentech, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architectural future of a dynamic campus encompassing 50+ buildings and 6 million square feet of space. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent required.
  • Registered Architect - Licensed in the State of California.
  • 10 years or more experience in facility/interior design in industry or academia after receiving their Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least 3 years of experience in life science laboratory and GMP/pharmaceutical/biotech industry expertise.
  • Experience as an architectural lead for multiple complex capital projects within the pharmaceutical or related industries.
  • Significant experience with cGMP compliant design highly desirable.
  • LEED certification, project management experience, and/or experience working in a campus environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, interpersonal, collaborative, conflict resolution, and negotiating skills.
  • Good working knowledge of project design and construction.
  • Strong communication (written / verbal) skills.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and Google Suite skills.
  • Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • LEAN/Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience in a campus environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and accountability for architectural designs on capital projects performed at the South San Francisco and other sites.
  • Engage actively in the upgrades to the portfolio of 50+ buildings / ~6M square feet of space and the design and planning of new buildings.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and advise external design consultants on architectural design.
  • Interact frequently with various levels of the organization and coordinate with project managers in Design & Construction.
  • Present periodically at industry events as a technical expert.
  • Support the execution of a portfolio of projects with input and coordination in the area of architectural design.
  • Lead an architectural design sub-team including representatives from alliance architecture firms.
  • Develop site-specific architectural design standards based on Roche/Genentech corporate standards.
  • Engage with the Roche Engineering Network and outside industry organizations for continuous learning.
