About The Position

As a Principal Architect with Genentech, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architectural future of a dynamic campus encompassing 50+ buildings and 6 million square feet of space. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent required.
• Registered Architect – Licensed in the State of California.
• 10 years or more experience in facility/interior design in industry or academia.
• At least 3 years of experience in life science laboratory and GMP/pharmaceutical/biotech industry expertise.
• Experience as an architectural lead for multiple complex capital projects.
• Significant experience with cGMP compliant design highly desirable.
• LEED certification, project management experience, and/or experience working in a campus environment.
• Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, interpersonal, collaborative, conflict resolution, and negotiating skills.
• Good working knowledge of project design and construction.
• Strong communication (written / verbal) skills.
• Excellent organization and planning skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Office and Google Suite skills.
• Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with LEAN/Six Sigma certification.
• Experience in a campus environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and accountability for architectural designs on capital projects.
• Engage actively in the upgrades to the portfolio of 50+ buildings / 6M square feet of space and the design and planning of new buildings.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and advise external design consultants on architectural design.
• Interact with project teams, including coordinating with project managers in Design & Construction.
• Influence and align on design standards and approaches across the network.
• Teach and direct project managers and partners on industry practices and new technologies.
• Present to upper management to demonstrate business drivers and site strategies.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Support the execution of a portfolio of projects with input and coordination in architectural design.
• Lead an architectural design sub-team including representatives from alliance architecture firms.
• Develop site-specific architectural design standards.
