Team Overview: We are looking for a Principal Analog Engineer to join the Impinj RAIN RFID Reader IC Engineering team to design key analog circuits and subsystems for the next generation of Reader ICs. In this position, you will use your experience in designing high precision low power data converters, power efficient low noise amplifiers, and configurable mixed signal subsystems to take Impinj’s next generation of Reader ICs from concept through to production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 15+ years of deep expertise in Analog design, with more than 10 years of leadership experience overseeing Analog design initiatives
  • Expertise in designing Analog circuits, such as LNA, Mixer, VGAs, PA, VCO, PLL, Regulators, ADC/DAC, in deep sub-micron CMOS technologies
  • Demonstrated delivery of modular, configurable analog subsystems and Mixed Signal SoCs with complete DFT capabilities and production worthy A0 silicon
  • Mastery of IC design tools including Spectre, SpectreRF, EMX, and others, with a strong command of physical layout considerations for optimal circuit performance
  • Extensive experience in lab testing, including software skills for automated control of lab equipment, and a proven track record of delivering accurate, repeatable characterization data
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to guide, mentor, and influence both technical teams and stakeholders in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of RF transceiver systems, with a proven ability to translate system-level requirements into precise circuit-level specifications a plus
  • Knowledge of the causes and mitigation strategies of phase noise generation
  • An understanding of physical layout requirements for RF ICs

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key technical leader and subject matter expert in the development of advanced RFID Reader IC architectures
  • Define, specify, and design innovative low-power, low-voltage RF and Analog circuits using cutting-edge, deep-submicron CMOS technologies
  • Drive the creation of detailed design specifications and review processes, ensuring robust design and engineering standards across projects
  • Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, including analog, RF, and digital engineers, to align circuit designs with complex system-level requirements
  • Oversee and perform hands-on lab characterization of prototype designs, ensuring functionality and performance align with rigorous product specifications
  • Collaborate closely with systems and software engineers to achieve seamless integration that meets the full spectrum of product requirements
