About The Position

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal AI Engineer in the United States. This role is a senior, hands-on AI engineering position focused on building next-generation computer vision and recommendation systems. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of AI models that analyze visual content, extract metadata, and deliver personalized product recommendations. The position involves combining deep learning techniques, including CNNs and transformer-based vision models, with behavioral analytics to optimize user experiences. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and shaping the AI architecture. This role can be performed remotely, providing flexibility while driving impactful AI initiatives.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in AI/ML-focused roles
  • Deep expertise in computer vision, including CNNs, vision transformers, facial recognition, image classification, object detection, and embeddings
  • Strong experience with recommendation systems, collaborative filtering, and deep learning for personalization
  • Proficiency in Python and ML libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and OpenCV
  • Experience deploying ML models at scale using Docker, AWS, GCP, or similar platforms
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives from ideation to delivery
  • Solid understanding of the ML lifecycle: data management, model evaluation, explainability, and observability
  • MS in Computer Science or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy computer vision models (CNNs, vision transformers) for facial recognition, object detection, scene categorization, and aesthetic scoring
  • Build scalable pipelines for processing large volumes of image data and generating structured metadata
  • Integrate image intelligence with downstream systems such as search, ranking, and personalization
  • Design and implement recommendation systems leveraging behavioral analytics, collaborative filtering, and transformer-based models
  • Lead AI architecture strategy, model training, deployment, monitoring, and data acquisition initiatives
  • Provide hands-on mentorship, code review, and technical leadership across teams
  • Define experimentation frameworks (A/B testing) to optimize recommendation relevance and conversion
