About The Position

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to serve as a technical architect and strategic leader for advanced AI systems supporting national defense modernization initiatives. This senior-level position defines the roadmap for scalable, ethical, and high-performance AI models used in next-generation mission platforms. You'll influence the future of defense AI-guiding how intelligent systems think, learn, and operate across the most advanced aerospace environments on Earth. An active Secret Clearance is highly preferred.

Requirements

Typically 8+ years of professional experience in AI/ML systems design.
Recognized expertise in model architecture, deployment, and AI governance.
Proven leadership in defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical domains.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, AI, or related field preferred.
U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a high-level security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Publication or patent history in AI/ML considered a plus.
An active Secret Clearance is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Architect and lead enterprise-level AI and ML solutions for large-scale defense programs.
Define and implement AI strategy, standards, and technical roadmaps.
Ensure system scalability, compliance, and ethical model governance.
Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in secure, high-stakes environments.
Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies for mission applications.
Serve as a technical advisor to program leadership and external partners.
Provide mentorship and oversight across all AI development efforts.
