Join our team as a Principal Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, where you’ll lead the development and integration of industrial control systems for metal stamping presses and related equipment. You’ll shape next-generation manufacturing processes, guide cross-functional teams, and make a direct impact on safety, productivity, and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in industrial control system design and implementation, with specific expertise in metal stamping applications and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Proven proficiency in Rockwell Automation and Siemens platforms, including PLC programming, HMI development, and network configurations.
  • Strong understanding of machine safety standards (e.g., ANSI/RIA R15.06, NFPA 79, ISO 13849) and the ability to apply them to system design.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to dynamic project demands.
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects and delivering results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to travel as required, typically ~25%.

Nice To Haves

  • BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with assembly line design, automation and customized fabrication equipment and manufacturing processes
  • Hands-on experience in designing and operation of multiple axis automation equipment and/or robots
  • Prior NPI program experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Project (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Lead Control System Design: Specify and engineer sophisticated control systems for metal stamping presses and related equipment—meeting specifications, budgets, and safety standards.
  • Own the Technology: Architect, program, and implement PLCs, HMIs, and network configurations—primarily using Rockwell Automation products, with flexibility to integrate Siemens solutions.
  • Drive Process Excellence: Partner with cross-functional teams to refine manufacturing processes and ensure alignment with industry best practices.
  • Innovate & Improve: Analyze system performance, recommend improvements, and implement cutting-edge automation and robotics technologies.
  • Champion Safety: Conduct machine safety risk assessments and ensure compliance with ANSI, NFPA, and ISO standards.
  • Mentor & Lead: Provide technical leadership, troubleshoot complex issues, and guide engineering teams to deliver projects on time and at the highest quality.
