About The Position

Applies advanced knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, health insurance, and principles of business in order to provide assistance and technical support for extensive and more complex rating/pricing, valuation, and financial forecasting. Works with a team of actuaries to assure a coordinated approach to the actuarial components of health programs. Provides actuarial support to Network Management, Underwriting, and Sales and Marketing. May have team leadership responsibilities, especially on specific projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries(ASA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
  • 5+ years of experience in related field
  • In lieu of an ASA, alternate actuarial credentials may be considered.
  • In lieu of 5 years of experience, may consider candidates who are Fellows of the Society of Actuaries (FSA).

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of pricing experience in one or more of the following: MA-PD, PDP, EGWP, MedSupp – Highly Preferred
  • S trong communication and organization skills
  • Strong technical, data, and coding skills
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically, leveraging business knowledge to drive change and mitigate risks
  • Adaptive and versatile learner, with ability to react quickly to changing business dynamics

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain actuarial models to support the Medicare Advantage bid process and other Medicare pricing efforts
  • Perform actuarial research, experience studies, and statistical analyses using Excel, SQL, and SAS
  • Provide ad-hoc analytic and pricing support for corporate and departmental projects
  • Communicate effectively with actuarial peers, key internal customers, and direct leadership
