About The Position

The Principal Accountant will lead site cost accounting operations while providing critical manufacturing support and comprehensive financial reporting. This role directs the establishment and maintenance of corporate accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate fiscal record-keeping and timely preparation of financial reports. The successful candidate will develop and maintain robust planning and budgeting systems that support strategic decision-making across the organization. They will analyze and interpret financial trends and operating results, evaluating performance in terms of costs, budgets, policies, and profit opportunities. The Principal Accountant will present key findings and actionable recommendations to executive leadership to drive business performance. A critical responsibility includes establishing procedures and internal controls to ensure full compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and other regulatory standards. This position requires strong technical accounting expertise combined with the ability to translate complex financial data into strategic insights. This is a hybrid opportunity requiring an on-site work schedule Tuesday through Thursday at our site in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in accounting

  • Knowledge of SAP and Hyperion preferred
  • Excellent Excel skills; pivot tables and vlookups
  • Ability to interface with cross functional leadership to ensure proper accounting, reporting and support to senior finance leadership
  • Allocates time and resources efficiently to ensure projects completed accurately and timely, focusing on ever-shifting priorities; continually seeks way to improve individual/team efficiency.
  • Exhibits strong decision making; tackles tough problems with firm deadlines; is self-motivated and can work with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for month end close procedures
  • Plan/budget labor & overhead rates and other burden rates for manufacturing
  • Contribute to Monthly Site Operating Review
  • Prepare quarterly Financial forecasts, analyze and report on month-end financials
  • Actively participate in various lean projects to drive efficiencies and savings
  • Review reconciliations and journal entries
  • Analyze and report on month-end financials
  • Ensure adherence to global accounting policies and SOX narratives
  • Perform/review SOX controls testing
  • Liaise with both internal and external auditors
  • Observe and support cycle counts and physical inventory counts
  • Excess and obsolescence reserve analysis
  • Contribute to various project workstreams
