About The Position

The Principal of the Academies of Loudoun provides leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of integrated STEM and Career and Technical educational programs. This role involves collaboration with various departments to ensure the programs align with the School Division's strategic goals and policies, while also fostering community involvement and effective communication between home and school.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education from an accredited university or college.
  • Experience as a Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, or equivalent administrative experience; preferred experience leading a STEM or Career and Technical Education program.
  • Holds or is eligible for the Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement as a High School Principal.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and tracking budgets.
  • Knowledge of state and federal statutes, regulations, and rules relating to instruction and curriculum.
  • Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities necessary for effective collaboration with administrators, students, parents, staff, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Provides integrated STEM and Career and Technical educational programs consistent with the goals and objectives of the School Division's strategic plan.
  • Supervises and evaluates the performance of each member of the school staff and establishes individual plans for improvement.
  • Fosters effective home-school communication by providing opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss student progress and encouraging community involvement.
  • Administers a school budget in collaboration with program directors and departments, ensuring accurate bookkeeping and compliance with policies.
  • Creates a master schedule that allows for flexible scheduling and specialized programming for the Academies of Loudoun programs.
  • Establishes ACL as a hub for student and teacher research, inquiry, and innovation, fostering a culture of innovation.
  • Acts as a liaison to high school principals, program advisory boards, foundations, community and business partners.
