GEO Academies is a national, non-profit network of open-enrollment, public charter schools committed to empowering students to accelerate their academic pathways, advance their social mobility, and achieve their career and lifelong goals. Our innovative and award-winning K-16 GEO Academies Model begins with personalized, competency-based learning and accelerates students into post-secondary immersion as early as 9th grade. GEO Next Generation Academy – Indianapolis is a part of a network of high-quality charter schools managed by the GEO Foundation. It joins 21st Century Charter at Gary, Gary Middle College in delivering a high-quality learning experience to parents and students in Indiana. GEO Next Generation Academy is a tuition-free, public charter school that covers grades K-12. Our teachers cultivate critical thinking skills students need to understand how the world works around them. Our dedicated faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary school to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Through our partnership with the local community college, our students will be able to take dual credit courses with the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost to the student. Our curriculum and our teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge, Teach Like a Champion and blended learning model. We are a TAP school!

Responsibilities

  • Work in concert with GEO CEO, President, Chief Academic Officer and other GEO Next Generation Academy leadership as a singular, cohesive unit in respect of its K-12 structure.
  • Work with leadership team to hire, develop, train and evaluate all staff.
  • Monitor the implementation of the GEO Model such as, TAP, TLaC, blended learning, small group instruction and the use of all curriculum materials.
  • Coordinate implementation of the Early College and Career Readiness Program.
  • Support dean of students and teachers with discipline issues.
  • Help develop and maintain the school’s vision and goals for student achievement.
  • Articulate and foster the school’s desired culture.
  • Provide oversight and support to the staff and Assistant Principal.
  • Administer and implement all aspects of the TAP program.
  • Inform GEO CEO, GEO President and Chief Academic Officer of any problems, concerns or suggestions that have an impact on the operation of the school.
  • Meet all deadlines.
  • Participate in personal and professional growth activities.
  • Use all available research to evaluate instructional issues.
  • Work cooperatively with GEO team members.
  • Act as liaison for GEO/school.
  • Work in concert with GEO Foundation leadership team, including the GEO President to monitor and maintain compliance for all grants and charter including DOE requirements.
  • Coordinate data driven instruction with Chief Academic Officer and Master/Mentor Teachers.
  • Create board reports focused on department activities, accomplishments and concerns.
  • Attend and participate in all GEO/School macro management meetings.
  • Support a welcoming and inclusive environment for parents, community, and other volunteers.
  • Support a strong culture of discipline and respect within the school community among students and staff.
  • Promote and cultivate a positive learning culture and climate in the buildings.
  • Follow all board and GEO Foundation policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in school leadership and administration.
  • Possess or demonstrate the ability to obtain an Indiana Administrators License.
  • Commitment to the mission and organizational goals GEO Foundation and GEO Academies.
  • Demonstrate proven data-driven analysis and instruction proficiency.
  • Successful teaching or leadership experience in an urban environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Successful experience as a building administrator with proven organizational, problem solving, and written and oral communication skills.
  • TAP certified or willingness and ability to successfully secure TAP certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience.
  • Expertise in school and/or organizational policy, procedures, and program development.
  • Proven ability to motivate, inspire and manage a diverse staff.
  • Blended Learning with an online environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate with others in an entrepreneurial spirit, focused on improving student achievement and school excellence.
