About The Position

As a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer for Released Products at Medtronic, you will be part of the MECC Design & Systems group, focusing on driving design integrity across multiple component product lines. This role involves managing design changes for released products, assessing design impacts, implementing robust design changes, and developing component specifications. You will collaborate with various functions to improve existing designs for both new and mature products, ensuring high quality, reliability, and delivery requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma or DRM/DFSS.
  • Knowledge of product and process risk analysis tools.

Nice To Haves

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in R&D and/or Manufacturing in the medical device industry.
  • Experience with physical testing of mechanical systems/components and failure analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability in analyzing and solving problems in a disciplined fashion.
  • Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Research, plan, design, verify, validate, and develop mechanical and/or electromechanical products and systems.
  • Recommend technology options or approaches for system, process, facility, or program improvements.
  • Manage design changes for released product design, including assessing design impact of post-market changes.
  • Implement robust design changes on components and develop component specifications.
  • Support new product development as needed and provide CAPA support.
  • Document design history files and perform design analysis.
