A Day in the Life We are searching for a Principal Engineer who will be instrumental in maintaining and supporting the level of new product and process design and development expertise at the Villalba site. The person is expected to design, develop, analyze, troubleshoot and provide technical skills during research and/or product development and be involved in product research and development and/or clinical trials. It is also expected that the employee translates research discoveries into usable and manufacturable products by designing and developing manufacturing processes from product concept to highly predictable and reliable processes in high volume manufacturing environment. The employee will support the liaison among the technical communities of Global Medtronic and Villalba. The following groups are part of the global technical community: design, reliability, tool design, technology and equipment design thru multiples OU (Organizational Units). Employee will be key in coaching engineers at multiple levels and lead complex technical challenges and discussions

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor degree in Engineering and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
