The GCC Manager is responsible for planning and managing resources, finances, scope, and services within the BGE Grid Connectivity & Communications (GCC) Program. This role focuses on expanding the fiber and communication platforms needed to support BGE's growing needs and the anticipated changes for the grid-of-the-future. The GCC Manager ensures all service levels are met, with a significant focus on client engagement and improvement opportunities related to the scope, cost, and timeliness of services.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of networking, network design, and operations, with a particular focus on fiber optic network management.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of fiber networking, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Efficiently manage resources and finances to ensure projects stay within budget.
  • Oversee the scope of services, ensuring they meet client needs and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and ensure service levels are consistently met.
  • Work closely with the Sr. Manager of GCC and a matrixed team across BGE to leverage resources and increase productivity.
  • Deliver operational services and solutions on time, within budget, and with the required functionality.
  • Participate in developing and implementing strategies and policies related to networking and network operations.
  • Manage projects with a focus on ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget, while mitigating change management risks.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a business or S.T.E.M. field with a minimum of 7-10 years relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of applicable standards, methods, processes and practices, business fundamentals, and performance metrics in the specific functional area supported by this position.
  • Advanced proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel, & PowerPoint), and relevant specialized business applications.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and ability to create value with advanced problem solving, financial/analytical, performance management, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team.
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust, meet critical deadlines, communicate effectively, and foster culture change.
  • Customer driven with demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with people of all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including new technology.
  • In lieu of degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in networking, network design, and operations, particularly in fiber optic network management.
  • Experience in the day-to-day operations of fiber networking.
  • Strong understanding of resource and financial management.
  • Excellent client engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinking and operational excellence.
  • Experience in the energy or utilities sector.
  • MBA or Master's degree in a business or S.T.E.M. field.
  • Certification as: Certified associate in project Mgmt. (CAPM) OR Project Management Professional (PMP) OR Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Advanced knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of project management.
  • Ability to analyze complex business processes and systems, interpret and recommend alternative courses of action, and implement intervention strategies to attain performance targets.
  • Expert analytical skills for project evaluation including analysis of complex projects with economic, financial, risk and decision analysis.
  • Proficient in business case development and ability to effectively present business cases to business unit leadership.
  • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: USD $109,600.00/Yr. - USD $164,400.00/Yr.
