About The Position

The Primary Therapist provides individual, group and family therapy, crisis intervention services, psychoeducation presentations and experiential learning groups for clients and their families.

Requirements

  • A master's or doctoral degree in counseling, Master of Science Social Work, Master of Psychology, or master's in a counseling-related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Current, valid LPC, LCSW, or LMFT or in pursuit of licensure and operating under clinical supervision required.
  • Three (3) years' experience in social work or related field.
  • Experience working with addictions and/or mental health.
  • Experience using a variety of interventions including DBT, CBT, Family Systems,
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of a variety of models and theories of addiction, mental illness and related issues.
  • Knowledge of philosophies, practices, policies and outcomes of models of treatment, recovery, relapse prevention and continuing care for dually diagnosed populations.
  • Understanding of diagnostic criteria for dual conditions and the ability to conceptualize modalities and placement criteria within the continuum of care.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of diverse cultures and gender-specific issues and ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into practice setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workload and work independently.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is required for this position. If not CPR/First Aid certified at time of hire, certification must be obtained within the state mandated time frame after first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides therapy services and clinical interventions that are sensitive to the individuals needs of the clients, client groups and families.
  • Participates in the development of therapy services and programs with other clinical and program team members.
  • Provides therapy services based on the application of integrative treatment modalities of mental health and/or addictive disorders.
  • Contact client’s family and facilitate family counseling sessions and conduct ongoing family therapy sessions if and when appropriate.
  • Facilitate education groups on the unit, monitor behaviors in the milieu (house), and act as a contributing team member.
  • Participate as a member of and in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to develop services and assist with and support the achievement of positive results for clients.
  • Collaborates with Program Directors and Compliance/Quality Assurance Management to develop and maintain all safety policies, procedures and protocols pertaining to therapy and treatment.
  • Documentation in compliance with state regulations and insurance contracts and in the appropriate format within 24 hours of the service taking place.
  • Practices in a manner that is consistent with legal, ethical and safety standards as delineated by the organization, licensure boards and local, state, and federal law.
  • Monitors for the safety of individuals and groups, providing appropriate interventions to correct potential risk for clients.
  • Monitors the clients and client groups for safety concerns and corrects potential risks for clients, staff members and others.
  • Attend and participate in all treatment team meetings, morning meetings, team meetings, and other scheduled trainings.
  • Participate in discharge planning.
  • Participate and assist with facilitating weekend family programming.
  • Demonstrates effective continuing care planning and referrals for an appropriate continuum of care, in accordance with established policies and procedures, job description and a scope of licensure and professional practice.
  • Participates in the recording of documentation for client care, including screening assessments, treatment plans, clinical reports, clinical progress notes, discharge summaries, email and other written and verbal communication and other client related data.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of diverse cultures and gender responsive issues and ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into practice setting.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with current clients, family members, referrals sources and vendors.
  • Maintains confidentiality of company and client information.
  • Comply with the company’s code of conduct.
  • Availability for alternate, evening and weekend shifts may be required to meet state and regulatory agency requirements and business necessity.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
