About The Position

Continuously build professional knowledge in health and wellness as it relates to physical education, and frequently collaborate with the WCPA Health and Wellness department on fitness activities and campaigns. Supports the mission and vision of the elementary school, with an urgency to maximize every opportunity necessary to achieve ambitious student outcomes in all content areas. Fosters a safe, culturally responsive, and nurturing community where students love learning about physical education and health and wellness. Collaborate with the Athletics Department and classroom teachers to plan and implement an appropriately challenging curriculum in physical education using best practices in physical education pedagogy. Develop, execute, and deliver innovative physical education lessons for grades TK-5 that are aligned with the California Physical Education Framework using research-based best practices Promote physical and social-emotional development of children in individual, small-group, and whole-class settings. Differentiate lessons to accommodate students with varying needs. Assess students using current strategies and tools to inform instruction and give in-the-moment feedback, as well as on quarterly benchmarks. Communicate with grade-level teams regarding individual student needs and provide meaningful feedback to students and families. Demonstrate commitment to the community by communicating regularly with families and attending key community events. Commitment to continuous growth, actively engage in professional development opportunities, and contribute to our professional learning community. Supervise before/after-school lunch/recess. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in physical education or a similar subject, required.
  • Current California Single-Subject Teaching Credential in Physical Education, required.
  • Experience leading classrooms in physical education, sports, or a fitness program.
