About The Position

The Packaging Engineer supports existing automotive brands including Armor All, Eagle One, STP, Lexol, and A/C Pro by providing technical engineering support of product storage and application including liquids, aerosols, refrigerants and applicators such as triggers and actuators. You will develop and/or evaluate new containers and application technologies for new and/or existing auto care products with a focus on e-Commerce.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Packaging Technology, Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Previous packaging experience (i.e., design, testing, plastic containers and dispensers)
  • e-Commerce packaging standards experience
  • Participate in occasional teleconference meetings with global colleagues in different time zones
  • Travel, including international, up to 15%

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing and commercializing plastic containers and dispensers (bottles, caps, aerosols, triggers)
  • Previous lab experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Sharepoint
  • Knowledge of AutoCad and Solidworks

Responsibilities

  • Develop e-Commerce packaging solutions for the Auto Care division
  • Lead container and applicator development for new products
  • Provide technical direction for design agencies and suppliers
  • Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to source innovative and cost effective packaging materials and technologies
  • Contribute innovative ideas leading to the development and application of new container technologies and solving consumer application related challenges
  • Collaborate with Marketing to define the look of the primary package and bring the design to life
  • Define and conduct container development testing to ensure readiness for production, distribution, B&M supply chain, e-Commerce shipping, and consumer fit for use
  • Develop and execute packaging test plans (ie ISTA protocols, drop testing, vibration test, etc) to validate packaging performance and ensure product protection during transit
  • Ensure all packaging designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and customer safety requirements
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and quality to conduct line trials and execute optimal packaging solutions
  • Maintain accurate, complete and detailed records including performance-based packaging specifications
  • Support packaging technical support throughout the organization to resolve quality, packaging supply chain, or production technical issues
  • Protect and develop new Intellectual Property within the primary packaging space
  • Practice proper safety procedures, provide leadership to others in key result areas, and participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Work within product life cycle management system (PLM) to manage projects and complete task by assigned dates
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging packaging technologies, and best practices
  • Work in a laboratory environment conducting testing
  • Lift up to 35 lbs
