About The Position

The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation is seeking a Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician to join the Division of Sports Medicine. The position will include: Clinical care within the UW Health Sports Medicine Clinics, Service as a team physician for the Wisconsin Badger Athletes (including weekly clinic, pre-participation physicals and sideline coverage) The potential for other team physician roles with preprofessional and professional sports teams within the Madison area. Athletics coverage may will include daytime, evening and weekend coverage of events year-round including some travel for away games and tournaments. This position will be involved in teaching medical students, residents and fellows, as well as other learners both within the context of clinical practice, on the sidelines of sports events and in formally scheduled didactic teaching sessions. This position will be encouraged to participate in research within the division’s strong multi-disciplinary team-science environment. Time and other departmental, school and campus-wide resources are available to promote scholarly work within the candidate’s area(s) of interest. This position may also include opportunities to work on collaborative initiatives within the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years. Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles; Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor, Assistant Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist. Must provide a valid driver's license. Employees may use their own transportation or receive approval for University Car Fleet usage. Employment is conditional pending the results of a Pre-hire Driver Authorization Check. Requirements

  • Certificate of Additional Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine by start date
  • WI Medical license by start date of position.
  • Board-certified or board eligible in American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or American Board of Pediatrics (ABOP) by start date of position.
  • Completion of a US Family Medicine or Pediatrics residency and fellowship trained in Sports Medicine by the start date of the position.
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges, by the start date of the position.
  • Must provide a valid driver's license.
  • Employment is conditional pending the results of a Pre-hire Driver Authorization Check.
  • The selected applicant will be responsible for ensuring their continuous eligibility to work in the United States

  • For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CT or CHS track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS or CT track.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
