About The Position

Position located at Kingsport Family Medicine The Primary Care Pharmacy Technician (PCPT) shall be responsible for collaborating with physicians, pharmacists, and clinical staff to help patients overcome barriers to medication access while operating within clear protocols and guidance from ETSU Health Department of Family Medicine Pharrn Ds and Physicians. Additionally, the PCPT will participate in quality initiatives for medication-related metrics for ETSU Health Family Medicine patients. Personal characteristics necessary for successful performance in this position include flexibility, attention to detail, initiative, cooperation, and a commitment to continuing education to upgrade skills in a constantly developing profession. This individual should demonstrate good communication and interactive skills, oral and written, a positive outcome/results orientation (including accountability for results), and the ability to function successfully as part of intradepartmental or multidisciplinary teams. The PCPT should support ETSU Health’s Mission and Vision and shall be committed to the improvement of care quality. This individual will collaborate professionally and effectively with team members (including physicians, pharmacists, and nursing teams) regarding patient care needs and to achieve positive, patient-oriented outcomes. This collaboration will include regular communication with the primary care provider and clinical staff for patient-related tasks. Access to patient information may be needed to fulfill the responsibilities of this role. HIPAA training will be required as well as adherence to all ETSU Health confidentiality and other policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program
  • Knowledge in the use of related information systems hardware/software.
  • The ability to interact with other healthcare providers (including, but not limited to physicians, physicians’ assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and pharmacists).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • HIPAA training will be required as well as adherence to all ETSU Health confidentiality and other policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year related experience in retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or physician’s office setting.
