We have an exciting opportunity at Caterpillar on the Power & Energy pricing team for a Pricing Consultant. This role is a trusted advisor and consultant to the Electric Power industry team to achieve profitable growth through excellent decision support and consulting. In this role, you will develop pricing recommendations and execute differentiated pricing strategies with direct involvement with Electric Power leaders. In addition, you will support Power & Energy wide pricing initiatives and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field of study
  • Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

  • Previous experience working with commercial and/or sales teams

Responsibilities

  • Drive commercial simplification and prime product sales variance effectiveness to achieve profitable growth
  • Provide pricing guidance and insights on sales variance management & forecasting
  • Lead commercial consultation efforts that optimize strategic sales variance usage.
  • Analyze sales history, volume forecast, gap to target price positioning, revenue & margin trends, TAP analysis, competitive pressure, growth potential and other related factors.
  • Confront unique and complex issues or problems on a regular basis, which require careful analysis, diagnosis, innovative solutions and proper handoff to responsible internal partner that can address non-pricing related root causes
