The Texas Council on Family Violence is a statewide organization representing a network of domestic violence programs that provide direct services to victims and their families and serves as the voice of victims at the state level while working with local communities to create strategies to prevent family violence. The Prevention Summer Intern position is open to those looking to get experience working in a macro level setting on family violence prevention-based initiatives. This is a terrific opportunity for a college, trade school, or high school student or a young person who is not currently enrolled in school. Applicants should have an interest in social justice, prevention, and working in the movement to end gender-based violence. The Prevention Internship program is a ten-week paid internship. This can be a fully remote (in Texas) working experience, so applicants from all regions of Texas are encouraged to apply. Interns will work 24 hours per week. Although schedules are flexible, a typical structure could be three 8-hour days per week. Applicants must be able to begin by June 10th, 2024, at the latest. This role is NOT supervised by an LMSW and may not fulfill a graduate-level social work internship's requirement. Please check your program requirements before applying. This role is NOT a direct service role. It will not involve much, if any, direct work with intimate partner survivors, their children, or people who use violence in their relationships.
