The entry-level position of a Prevention Specialist (PS) is primarily that of an educator in the areas of substance use, violence prevention, life skills and other topics as the need is determined. The PS plans, prepares and delivers prevention lessons/workshops to students, guardians, and other adults within and outside of the school setting. The PS should have strong interpersonal and communication skills and the passion to work effectively with members of diverse communities. This position requires teamwork and an engaging disposition and strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and familiarity with MS Office, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher and Outlook. The PS must have and maintain a valid Driver’s license and a legally licensed vehicle with insurance for driving to and from programs and events.
