Position Purpose: Under limited supervision, the Prevention Specialist promotes community, individual health and well-being through the delivery of prevention strategies and services directed by the state of Iowa and participate as a member of a dedicated team in the delivery of services. $6,000 Sign-on Bonus!
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in education, human services or related field
- Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or be certified within 18 months of hire
- Valid driver's license
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Nice To Haves
- Public speaking experience
- Prior experience facilitating groups
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Promotes destigmatization of substance use disorders.
- Coordinate services with referral sources and other community resources.
- Understand and demonstrate knowledge of the Strategic Prevention Framework and Public Health Model of prevention.
- Provide direct service hours to community.
- Complete and maintain confidential written reports within prescribed time frames.
- Design prevention programs to meet the needs of the community and/or special interest groups.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the disease process of addiction, the core functions of prevention, and apply these appropriately to job duties.
- Use and/or develop evaluation tools to measure outcomes for prevention programs.
- Meet the short-term outcomes and all deliverable expectations as written in the grant.
- Attend all team meetings as assigned.
