The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing expert level preventative maintenance on various devices and machinery. This role includes observing devices in operation to locate root causes of problems, dismantling devices to access and remove defective parts, and examining parts for imperfections. The mechanic will also adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, and perform tests for electrical circuitry and mechanical systems. Additionally, the position requires identifying and sourcing necessary parts, supplies, and repair items, as well as evaluating alternatives to improve the cost and reliability of equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic will work independently to perform maintenance according to industry standards and collaborate with production to optimize the preventative maintenance daily schedule. The role may also involve setting up and operating multiple machining operations, complying with 5S and housekeeping standards, and leading Continuous Improvement (CI) activities. The mechanic will utilize predictive maintenance technologies to collect equipment performance data, observe trends, and make recommendations for preventative maintenance changes. On-the-job training and technical self-study programs for career development are also part of the responsibilities. Safety is a critical aspect of this role, requiring adherence to all safety policies and the ability to identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
