About The Position

As a Preventative Maintenance Engineer at Finning (UK) Ltd, you will be responsible for maximizing the operational availability of equipment through timely and efficient routine and preventative maintenance servicing and machine inspections. This role emphasizes safety and requires you to identify potential issues that may impact equipment availability while performing minor repairs as needed. You will work closely with the service controller and customers to ensure high standards of service and safety are maintained.

Requirements

• Direct experience of around 3 years in a related engineering function such as car mechanic, HGV fitter, or military vehicle mechanic.
• Formal apprenticeship qualification that includes at least C&G level 1.
• Basic knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrain, and vehicle electrics/electronics.

Nice To Haves

• Formal training in health & safety (desirable but not essential).

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing of equipment in line with manufacturers' guidelines, including taking routine oil samples.
• Perform visual and mechanical analysis of machine conditions to highlight developing issues with systems and components.
• Complete minor repairs identified during machine inspections and install telematic systems as required.
• Conduct undercarriage inspections and ensure all work is completed to high standards before returning equipment to customers.
