About The Position

In this role, you will work in pretrial investigations, case management, and counseling and social service referrals for the Sarasota County Government Pretrial Services Program. Examples of job responsibilities include: Supervise individuals on Supervised Pretrial Release (SPR), ensuring they follow court-ordered conditions such as court appearances, testing requirements, electronic monitoring, curfews, and travel restrictions. Maintain consistent contact with clients through in-person meetings, phone calls, and remote check-ins to support accountability and success. Connect clients with community resources and support programs to help them meet requirements and improve outcomes. Collaborate with law enforcement, court officials, and community partners; take appropriate action when clients fail to comply with release conditions. Maintain accurate, organized case files and enter detailed information into case management systems. Prepare clear reports, statistical data, and required documentation in compliance with legal and departmental standards. Assist with drug testing processes, intake investigations, case audits, and required supervision paperwork. Attend court hearings to provide updates on client compliance and testify when necessary; support team training and onboarding efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, counseling, social work, psychology, sociology, behavioral science, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • OR: 4+ years of progressively responsible related work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college degree.
  • Certification by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) as a Florida Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center (FCIC/NCIC) operator or be willing to obtain within six (6) months of appointment. (We can help with this!)
  • Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.

  • Knowledge of interviewing, screening, investigative, and fact-gathering techniques, as well as basic recordkeeping and report writing practices.
  • Understanding of courtroom procedures, professional demeanor, and effective oral and written presentation principles.
  • Skilled in preparing clear, concise reports and correspondence, and maintaining accurate case records.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and foster teamwork.
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse populations, including in confrontational situations, while upholding high standards and reliability within the criminal justice system.
