Job Summary The Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining industrial presses and related production equipment to manufacture precision parts and materials according to detailed specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols. This role plays a key part in MSM’s manufacturing processes, including materials molding, composites, and assemblies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a press operator, machine operator, or in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret job orders, work instructions, and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
  • Ability to lift and move moderate weights, stand for extended periods, and work safely around heavy machinery.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or vocational training in manufacturing, machining, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with precision presses or similar equipment (e.g., hydraulic presses, compression molding machines) used in advanced materials manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with quality systems (ISO standards) and continuous improvement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Set up press equipment (hydraulic, compression, or other designated presses) according to job requirements and production specifications.
  • Load raw materials, dies, tooling, and workpieces into presses.
  • Monitor press operations and adjust machine settings (pressure, speed, timing) to maintain product quality, consistency, and productivity.
  • Conduct routine inspections and quality checks on finished components to verify dimensional accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of press equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Troubleshoot minor machine issues and work with maintenance or engineering staff to resolve mechanical concerns.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including machine settings, outputs, scrap rates, and inspection results.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to support production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.
