Requirements

  • High School diploma (or GED), and a minimum of 3 years of press operation with specific Gravure printing and troubleshooting.
  • Must have proven interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must possess basic computer skills and mathematical skills necessary to compute percentages, weights and measures.
  • This position requires prolonged periods of standing, stooping, bending and/or reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms, hearing and speaking.
  • Frequent lifting in excess of 60 lbs is required.
  • Must be able to hold, touch, feel and manipulate with hands product and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Manual dexterity is required.
  • Use of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus as well as good eye-hand coordination.
  • Must be able to rotate shifts.
  • Must be available to work in excess of 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week when necessary to meet customer product needs.
  • Must be able to work in repetitive functions as well as other duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Operates Press to develop end-result printed material in accordance with customer specifications: Operate press, troubleshoot and monitor press operation.
  • Prepares press by performing a variety of tasks to produce a consistent, high quality product by matching inks, resolving defects and adjustments to exceed customer expectation.
  • By performing a variety of make ready task and press operations from mixing inks and solvents, replenishing supplies, resolving printing defects and adjustments to press to produce high quality product.
  • Oversee roll stand service.
  • Check posted viscosity time to maintain correct viscosity of inks.
  • Check and keep solvent and ink containers filled.
  • Fill auto viscosity containers, solvent tanks and cans as needed.
  • Make adjustments, clear jams, while processing product, maintaining speed and quality.
  • Ensure efficient and rapid make ready, with unloading and loading of printing carriages and rotary tools.
  • Ensure quality of jobs completed by reviewing for quality and accuracy.
  • Makes sure jobs are complete and error free.
  • Inspect cartons for proper color, register, cutting, creasing and defect free.
  • Ensures finished product meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Ensure all checklists are completed.
  • Ensures complete adherence and compliance to the EHS and Clean policies.
  • Assists team members in maintaining clean and safe environment.
  • Maintains and follows all company policies and procedures for safety, personal protection and hazard materials/waste handling according to established guidelines.
  • Follows all personal protection procedures by use of appropriate personal protective equipment at all times while in designated areas and specific tasks requiring the use of PPE.
  • Follows established procedures and guidelines for the handling and disposal of all hazardous materials/waste.
  • Maintains and wears proper uniform according to company policy.
  • Use Company provided safety lifting equipment, i.e., hoist, jacks, vacuum manipulators, etc.
  • On a regular basis, examines work areas to keep it in a safe and neat condition.
  • Properly stores and arranges work area to maintain cleanliness and safe environment following all safety rules and regulations for grounding, storage, spill clean-up, etc.
  • Effectively demonstrates the ability to maintain work area in a safe and proper working order coaching Press Crew in safe work practices and compliance on press.
  • Interacts with the team and co-workers in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance.
  • Communicates accurate information to all team members in a professional and courteous manner that conveys a willingness to assist.
  • Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately.
  • Create and maintain a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation.
  • Develop the team and encourage each member to do what needs to be done, correctly and efficiently.
  • Get it right the first time.
  • Communicates regularly with team toward goals and required results, providing specific feedback and initiating corrective action when goals or results are not met.
  • Motivate crew to improve quantity and quality of work performed and provide training as required.
  • Consistently uses appropriate established channels of communication.
  • Conduct team meetings when necessary.
  • Must be able to perform any and all work or additional tasks as required or requested by Department Leads, Shift Leads, or Management.
