About The Position

The operator will perform a variety of basic operations relating to metal stamping, fabrication, assembly, and welding.

Requirements

• At least a High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• At least three months general experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
• Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Responsibilities

• Operates less complex stamping operations including single hit jobs.
• Operate automatic and/or progressive dies.
• Operates various spot welders.
• Packs, sorts, and reworks (including grinding, buffing, or polishing) a variety of parts.
• Has initial responsibility to shut press down when problems with parts are suspected, with follow-up notification to the Set-up Operator and/or Supervisor.
• Loads blanks onto conveyor systems for robotic applications.
• Load own coil following Safety SOP.
• Checks own parts and completes history sheets.
• Conforms to all company safety rules.
• Conforms to lock-out procedure.
• Proficient in logging into Shop Edge, assign material, print labels, add scrap, record downtime and log out.
• Assures use of packaging procedures with assistance of the Level III Set Up person.
• Keeps Set Up and/or Supervisor informed of all applicable information.
• Has working knowledge of production equipment and procedures.
• Constantly works toward improving efficiency, and ultimately, productivity.
• Maintains good work area housekeeping including tools and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
