To Feed Press Sheets at the feed station of a Sheetfed Offset Press with minimum trips. To ensure that the proper Ink, Coatings are being used. To properly track all paper that is consumed for a given job. To ensure that all un-used paper is return to warehouse. Feeder must also report any un-safe acts to Pressmen or Lead Pressmen on his shift. Must be able to troubleshoot any feed station or paper related issues. Must assist the Pressmen during Make-readies, Keep Press at 5S Standards. Plus other duties assigned by Pressmen or Pressroom Lead. Must be willing to learn other aspects of Press Operations.

Requirements

  • Must follow all GPI Safety Rules and Procedures
  • Must be able to achieve and maintain GPI Quality Standards
  • Must be able to Set-Up and Operate Feed Stations on all Sheetfed Presses
  • Must be able to Assist in all Make-Ready Functions.
  • Must be able to Follow Directions
  • Must be able to Train New Members in the Pressroom.
  • Must be able to work with Minimal Supervision
  • Must be able to Troubleshoot Press Feeding issues and resolve.
  • Must be willing to learn the RFGen/SAP System.
  • Must follow ALL department procedures
  • Must follow ALL GPI procedures
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 3 months Printing Experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must complete RCRA Training to be able to properly handle any hazardous waste made within the printing process.
  • Duties require standing (except breaks and lunch) with little lower body movement throughout working shift for 8 to 12 hours.
  • Visual acuity at short distances. Needed to detect variances in job numbers, register and bleeder marks.
  • Color vision needed to detect inappropriate color of product.
  • Good eye/hand coordination to keep speed with the pace of the machine.
  • Able to lift 25-35 lb. boxes continuously and 50 lbs. occasionally to cover Palletizer position.
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, bending and overhead reaching.
  • Fine hand manipulation.
  • Grasping and gripping.
  • We are a union environment, must be willing to work all shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the proper Ink, Coatings are being used.
  • Properly track all paper that is consumed for a given job.
  • Ensure that all un-used paper is return to warehouse.
  • Report any un-safe acts to Pressmen or Lead Pressmen on his shift.
  • Troubleshoot any feed station or paper related issues.
  • Assist the Pressmen during Make-readies, Keep Press at 5S Standards.
  • Other duties assigned by Pressmen or Pressroom Lead.
  • Willing to learn other aspects of Press Operations.
  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
  • Keep Press Department Leads and Manager informed of needed machine repairs.
  • All other duties as assigned
